It shouldn’t be a surprise, then, that nearly every cruise line prohibits your bringing beer or liquor aboard the ship to drink. After all, it’s in their interest to sell you a tasty drink instead of you bringing your own. However, many lines will let you bring some wine or champagne when you board the ship. Royal Caribbean understands that many passengers enjoy savoring a glass of their favorite wine while cruising. As a result, they have a wine allowance policy that allows guests to bring a certain amount of wine onboard without any additional charges. If you prefer not to bring your own beverages or need additional drinks during your cruise, Royal Caribbean offers a wide range of options for purchasing drinks onboard.
It is crucial to pack liquids properly, adhering to the limitations and restrictions, to avoid confiscation or disposal at security checkpoints. It’s worth noting that Royal Caribbean has designated areas and restaurants where wine consumption is permitted. This ensures that guests can enjoy their favorite vintages in a relaxed and appropriate setting.
Can I Bring Alcohol on My Cruise? Drink Policies for Every Cruise Line
Royal Caribbean will let passengers bring up to one bottle of wine per adult per stateroom. Water brought onboard needs to be put in your carry-on luggage, not your checked luggage. First, liquor and beer are not allowed to be brought on the ship to enjoy during the cruise (but you can buy them in port and have the staff hold them until the end of the trip). Holland America, like other lines, has a restrictive policy regarding bringing alcohol on the ship.
Purchasing Drinks On The Ship
Diamond+ members (passengers with 25+ RCI cruises) and guests booked in a Grand Suite or higher category have access to a nightly self-service free bar. This deal is on all RCI ships of the following classes - Radiance, Voyager, Freedom, Oasis and the new Quantum-class ships. By being well-informed and prepared, passengers can navigate Royal Caribbean’s Liquid Policy with ease and have a stress-free embarkation process. Remember to check the official Royal Caribbean website for any updates or changes to the policy before your cruise. When you purchase a Royal Caribbean drink package, gratuity (18%) will be assessed on your purchase at that time, which covers all of your subsequent drink orders.

Please note that these beverages must be carried on in your carry-on luggage, and any additional bottles or other types of alcohol will be confiscated and returned at the end of the cruise. To avoid any inconvenience, it is advisable to review the specific guidelines on Royal Caribbean’s website regarding the packaging and transportation of alcohol. MSC Cruises is a popular choice for travelers seeking a diverse cruise experience.
To help you sort out what you can and can’t bring, we’ve gone through the trouble of rounding up each cruise line’s alcohol policy. With literally thousands of people ready to let loose in the warm sun, the booze flows like water. It’s not an accident that a cruise ship can easily have a dozen bars… and several other restaurants to grab a drink. One of the reasons cruises offer such great value is because the cruise line wants to get passengers on board.
Royal Caribbean has a wine policy in place to ensure a seamless cruise experience for its guests. When it comes to bringing your own wine onboard, the company does check bottles to ensure compliance with their regulations. Each guest is allowed to bring two bottles of wine per stateroom, with a corkage fee of $15 per bottle if consumed in public areas.
Discover local favorite foods including the best types of Mexican dishes to explore during your next vacation to Mexico for sampling its vibrant culinary history. Discover the most delectable Jamaican dishes as well as a few of the best-known restaurants to visit during your next vacation cruise to Jamaica. Discover new flavors in restaurants by the water or within the historic city of Nassau. The wine needs to be in your carry-on luggage to avoid your luggage being held by security for inspection later. There is no limit on how much food of these foods you can bring, so feel free to bring as much as you deem necessary. It likely won’t quench your thirst for the entire cruise, but it’s good to know that if you want to save a few bucks, then you can bring at least some alcohol aboard on your own.
Additionally, if guests wish to consume their wine in a public area, they will be charged a small corkage fee. This is great news for wine enthusiasts who want to enjoy their preferred bottle of wine during their vacation. This allowance gives guests the flexibility to enjoy their favorite soft drinks and juices during their cruise. "Sip Tour Brunch" combines a Chef-led Galley tour (ship's kitchen) with unlimited champagne. The 2,5-hours, adults-only activity also includes a Main Dining Room brunch with unlimited sparkling wine. For those seeking a more immersive wine experience, Royal Caribbean also offers wine tastings led by expert sommeliers.
Therefore, it is always prudent to check the official Royal Caribbean website or contact the cruise line directly for the most up-to-date information. There is another aspect to consider, and that is guests becoming disorderly when over-consuming alcohol. This behavior could be another reason for the policy change, as Carnival Cruise Line in particular, has seen numerous incidents in the last couple of months.
